The Story of ARWWA:

The Assam Rifles Women’s Welfare Association (ARWWA) is the compassionate and dedicated welfare arm of the Assam Rifles, which was founded in 1835 as the Cachar Levy, India’s oldest paramilitary force. It evolved through various names  and roles including Frontier Force and Assam military police before becoming Assam Rifles in 1917. It is said that behind every brave soldier stands a strong family and behind every family, ARWWA stands as a pillar of support.

ARWWA was formally founded on 25 May 2005 by Mrs Winnie Singh, the then President ARWWA.

The first official logo of ARWWA was approved on 31 Jan 2020, by  Mrs. Sangwan, the then President ARWWA .

On 16 Jun 2025, the redesigned logo, which was visualized and conceptualized by Mrs. Vibha Lakhera, President ARWWA, was launched. It represents the collective strength, cultural richness and emotional fabric that define ARWWA. It is a powerful symbol of who we are and what we stand for – women connected through purpose, compassion and courage.
